Does anyone have recommendations for a combined camera/video camera for photographing gardens?
I've been landscaping (plantscaping really) my 6 acre garden over the last 2 years. It has a long way to go, and when I look back at the photos I've taken, I'm pretty disappointed. Mind you, it's probably 90% human error, but I was thinking maybe videos combined with a few pics might capture the garden nicely as it evolves.
Michael has so many amazing photos on this website - what are you using?

Hi Tracey, for many years I used a massive Nikon 200D with an 18-200mm zoom on it. I dragged this thing all over the world. But at 1.8kg it started to weigh me down, so I recently bought a Nikon Z50 with a wide angle and zoom lens. I can’t say that I’m hugely excited by it, but it does a reasonable job. What I wanted was a camera with a relatively adaptable zoom (didn’t want to be taking more than a single lens OS with me) that together weighed under 1kg. This camera is in the category known as micro 4/3rds, which great for size and weight. But honestly, most of the compact cameras these days have incredible capacity. The biggest limiting factor is, unfortunately, the photographer. To that end, maybe your best bet would be to look at doing a photography course? I did one, back in the pre-digital days when I was writing my first book. My confidence and capabilities rocketed as a result, and while the publisher of the book intended to have the garden professionally photographed, 75% of the images used in the book ended up being my own.
Thanks Michael – great advice.
