My magnolia tree has not grown for years, although it has leaves and some flowers in season. I realised recently that it has a giant hole in the trunk at the soil line. What should I do?
It looks like it’s rotting. Clear away some of the mulch from the stem to help it dry properly, but I’m not sure how to actually FIX rot once it’s that bad. Or could it be something eating it? How old is the plant?
