My thinking on planting design has been substantially recalibrated in the last 12 months or so by increased contact with the ground-breaking work of James Hitchmough and Nigel Dunnett, largely through their respective books, Sowing Beauty (Timber Press 2017) and the fresh-off-the-press Naturalistic Planting Design (Filbert Press 2019).
These guys did the incredible meadow plantings around the Olympic Stadia for the London Olympics, and are now applying the mind-bending rigour of their thinking to planting around the world – including Melbourne!
Make yourself a cup of tea, and take a look at this interview I recently recorded with James Hitchmough for our Perennials Symposium. And don’t worry. The image eventually switches over to James!
Really enjoyed all of this. Thank you- its wonderful.
