I was so excited to see, a few months back, that Professor Cassian Schmidt, director of Hermannshof garden in Weinheim, Germany, had joined instagram. Ash and I have spent some time hanging out with Cassian and his Landscape Architect wife Bettina (as have our New Naturalism tour group in 2019 - why not come with us in 2021?), and this highly experimental and educational garden is like no other. I also love that Cassian adds really valuable captions to his pics. While Insta might be a primarily visual platform, I love gardening accounts that tell you something about the pic, and the thinking behind them, or the challenges behind them. Find him at @cassianschmidt.
A couple of others that often add great captions to fabulous pics are @ jameshitchmough, @rotheramblings, @simon_rickard and @michaelcookegardendesign.
Any others we should know about?
Instagram accounts we shouldn't be missing

so many!! ‘coyotewillow ‘- Dan Pearson’s page and ‘Nigel Slater’ – although a chef has an amazing garden…and ‘mccormickcharlie’ and his dahlias are my favourites.
Garden, gardener and plant accounts – the usual suspects plus @rick_shepherd the head gardener at retford park, @sanderumgaards_romantiske_have a dreamy garden in Denmark, @jonathansschoolofcoolplants for unusual plants and feedback! and @tonkinbulbs for rare bulbs
all but @tonkinbulbs are new to me. Thanks for the lead
I’m not big on insta but one gardener I do follow purely because he grows stuff that looks good in harsh conditions in SA is Kurt Wilkinson.
